Blackr is a highly efficient and versatile app that simulates a screen off state without interrupting the functioning of other apps. Its wide range of applications includes turning off the display while streaming videos, recording video with the camera, and many other use cases.
The app features a simple and smart design, which makes it incredibly easy and convenient to use. It is especially optimized for OLED and AMOLED displays that can switch off individual pixels to display true black.
Blackr can also be used as a pure black screen app, an always-on display (AOD), or a simulated lock screen, depending on the user's needs.

An optional way to access the app is by adding a Blackr button in the quick tile settings of the device's status bar, providing seamless accessibility at any time.

Blackr functions by displaying a black overlay on top of the screen. On most modern displays, black pixels are turned off completely, effectively turning off the display. Although it works best on OLED screens like AMOLED, PMOLED, QD-OLED, and similar display technologies that can switch off individual pixels displaying true black, it is still compatible with all displays.
Additionally, Blackr can be used to reduce screen burn-in by changing the lit pixels every minute, acting as a beneficial screen reset. While the app acts as an overlay and prevents your phone from sleeping, power reduction primarily comes from reduced or no screen usage, while also helping to prevent burn-in.
