Blackr functions by displaying a black overlay on top of the screen. On most modern displays, black pixels are turned off completely, effectively turning off the display. While the app acts as an overlay and prevents your phone from sleeping, power reduction primarily comes from reduced or no screen usage, while also helping to prevent burn-in.
